This is neat -- a booklet from nearly 25 years ago produced for Woodhaven's 150th Anniversary, e-mailed to us by our friend Joe Virgona.  Here's the cover --

Sesquicentennial!  That's a mouthful!  That 1835 data refers to the year that this area was developed and took the name Woodville.  It wasn't until 1853 that we took the name Woodhaven.  I guess that makes 2010 our 175th Year -- pretty neat, eh?

Anyway, back in 1985, this booklet was produced by The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, telling you how you can preserve Woodhaven's Architectural heritage.  There's a wealth of good information here about the many different types of beautiful homes we have here in Woodhaven.

When looking at Woodhaven we sometimes have a tendency to focus too much on Jamaica Avenue -- we're just as guilty of that.  It's where we congregate, where we interact with one another.  This booklet is about where we live.  We see these houses -- these styles -- every day as we travel the streets of Woodhaven.  It's nice to slow down once in awhile and appreciate our surroundings.

We'll have to go round and look for many of these features, and present them in a separate project --

An interesting look at our community -- and a reminder that we're embarking on a nice anniversary in the next year!
