Over the years, we've spent many hours at the Seuffert Bandshell -- and with all of the events going on this summer, we'll be spending many more.  This report will be brief -- but hopefully pretty interesting.  Last week, while we were waiting for the Jukebox Heroes show to begin, we were privileged to be taken on a tour of the bandshell -- and we're happy to be able to share some interesting pictures.

We love this first picture.  If you've ever wondered what the view from the stage looks like -- here you go:

This was still about 90 minutes before showtime, and minutes after a brief shower.  One of the Forest Park Staff Members took advantage of the moment and treated us to a few minutes of his Elvis impersonation.  It was quite good.

Then we moved around back, and inside the bandshell.  In recent years the bandshell underwent some renovations.  Below left is the entranceway.  And at the right is one of the two dressing rooms.  It was still pretty humid outside after the rainstorm -- and this dressing room was fully air-conditioned, and it felt real good, so I tried to linger an extra moment or two.

This is a real cool picture.  This is "inside the shell" -- notice how the wall is curved.  They use it for storage -- and they access it when setting up the equipment on stage.

Below left is the other side of the bandshell -- still "inside the shell."  At right is one of the little hidden access vents where they can slip power cords through.  If you look through that square hole, you can see the stage and the benches.

Speaking of the benches -- it's no secret that our benches have seen better days.  Many of them look worse than they actually are -- the peeling paint looks horrible.  But there are alot of them that are broken or falling apart.

We are very pleased to report that we will be getting new benches -- very soon.  While we were inside the bandshell, we got a sneak preview of the new benches which will be installed in the near future.  The frames are metal -- and the seats are made from a very sturdy plastic.  It was very comfortable to sit on.

And one final note before we go.  And folks, these next 2 pictures demonstrate my personal commitment to bringing the very best pictures directly to your computer screen.  I've made the point before that they don't have porta-potties up at the bandshell -- that the bathrooms (or comfort stations, as they're called) are real bathrooms, with sinks, and everything.  Anyway, here's the Men's Room:

So, if you're going to come out for one of the shows -- you've got the picnic area nearby where you can barbecue -- and you've got a nice clean bathroom nearby.  (Note:  I made sure that no one was in the Men's Room when I took these pictures.  I did get one or two strange looks when I came out.  Perhaps they noticed the flash from outside.  I wonder what kind of weirdo they thought I was!)

In summary, we got to see some pretty neat things behind the scenes at the Seuffert Bandshell.
