A quick little blurb here -- we passed by the Cordon Bleu and it appears that they have completed their renovations on the marquee out front.  On Friday, May 15th, The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation will be holding their 30th Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Cordon Bleu (96-01 Jamaica Avenue) - the theme of this year's dance is "Think Spring."  There will be live music by the doo-wop group "The Four Pops" as well as a DJ, and there will be a deluxe all-evening buffet with libation.

A number of prominent locals will be honored at this years dance.  The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation's choice for honors this year are:

New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo - Man of the Year

Dr. Dennis Pazos D.C. - Business Owner of the Year

Founding Director Joseph P. Schmidt and Maureen Bermingham will also be honored.

Tickets for "The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation's 30th Anniversary Dinner Dance" are $65 each and can be purchased at the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, located at 84-01 Jamaica Avenue (the corner of Forest Parkway, above Chase Manhattan Bank -  Suite 4).  Or you can call 718-805-0202 for more information.

A few months back, Le Cordon Bleu closed down -- amidst rumors that it was closed for good, to be replaced by some sort of retail center.

Then, we were a little puzzled when the marquee got a partial overhaul and a name that was slightly different.  Here's what the marquee looked like -- you can see why we were puzzled - it seemed odd to put a new sign up, and leave the backing untouched:

We blogged about this here and also looked at hints of the old Willard Theater that remained.  Well, in time for the 30th Anniversary Dinner Dance. the marquee is ready -- we took these pictures today:

Note: The ambulance is out front because there was an accident outside of the Cordon Bleu this morning -- a collision between a vehicle and a postal van.  We hope that no one was seriously injured.

You can see that they have spruced up the marquee -- they've also fixed all the doors.  The portion of the building at the right is going to be converted into office / retail space -- you can see a man on a scaffold working.  Here's a better look at the whole building -- you can see where they have knocked out the wall and put in a few windows and a large door.

We would have gone over for a better look, but we didn't want to get in the way of the emergency personnel.  Plus, we'll get a much better look on May 15th at the Spring Dance -- and we'll have our cameras with us!

Here's one last look at the new marquee:

We hope to see some of you at the dance -- if you are there, please be sure to stop us and say hello!
