This Friday, December 4th, at 6:30, Woodhaven will turn out for its' annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony, brought to you by The Woodhaven Business Improvement District.  We were driving along Forest Parkway today when we saw a large crane, and a man in a bucket near the top -- they were getting the tree ready for Friday.

Heh.  How cool is this?  He's decked out in a Santa Hat.  The tree lighting ceremony is big every year and this year will be no exception.  We'll be there with our cameras, as usual!

All the popular Christmas characters will be there -- Santa, Frosty, Rudolph.  The Parks Department usually sets up a huge stage, and they shut down Forest Parkway.

I'm scared of heights, so there's no chance you'd ever see me up in one of those.  If I had gotten there earlier, I'd have asked the guy to take my camera and take some snaps from on high -- that would have been cool.

The Annual Christmas Parade is on the following day, December 5th.  It kicks off at 12 Noon in the former parking lot of Le Cordon Bleu.  People will start assembling around 11:30.  And it's going to run down Jamaica Avenue, ending up at Franklin K. Lane.

Immediately following the Christmas Parade on Saturday (12/5), Assemblyman Mike Miller will be hosting a Christmas Party for the Forest Park Aktion Club, an organization for adults with learning disabilities.  Ms. Thomson has vowed that the characters from the parade will be held over to entertain partygoers at Mr. Miller's party.  Everyone is invited, it starts at 5:30 PM at the Woodhaven Richmond Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps (78-15 Jamaica Avenue).

Maria Thomson, Executive Director of the Woodhaven Business Improvement District supervises the trimming of the tree.

We can't wait to see the tree light up -- it's going to be a great weekend around Woodhaven.

We'll leave you with this last glimpse of the tree -- see the star near the top?  Hopefully we'll see you out there this weekend -- at the tree lighting, the parade, and Assemblyman Miller's party.  Stop by and say hello!
