More Storm Pics

The recent storm brought out a lot folks and their cameras.  Here are some pics that were sent into us here at Projec Woodhaven.  This first one is chilling.  In our prior report, we had video of the power lines on 90th Street in flames.  Here, we see the same thing -- this time on 86th Street and 85th Road.  This was sent in by Woodhaven resident Bill Johnert, who points out that this picture sums up the main reason why we cannot afford to lose Engine Company 293.

If you recall, calls weren't getting through to 911 at his point.  However, Mr. Johnert knew the direct number to the dispatch station on Park Lane South, and that helped get the trucks there in time to avert disaster.  That fire could have easily spread to one of those houses -- and with all the high winds, that could have lead to a tremendous disaster.  There are a lot of questions that need to be answered.  We'll be asking those questions on tonight's radio show, at 10 PM EST.  Click here at 10 PM Woodhaven time to listen!  The number to call in is 646-378-1612.

Next up is another chilling photo sent in by Mr. Johnert -- folks, we were really lucky we didn't lose any lives this past week.  Most of the stores were open on Jamaica Avenue when this was happening.  People were walking the streets.  Driving around.  This could have been a family, dropping off a relative -- as we saw in other places around New York City that day, fate isn't always kind.

And finally, Mitch sends in the following, showing the car after the tree had been removed.  And you can see the damage that was done to the house.

Thanks to all who sent in these pics.  We're always on the lookout for photos.  And as a side note, we're starting up a Woodhaven Photography Club - click here for details!
