We're a little late with this, the last part of our trilogy of Woodhaven Halloween Horrors -- first we looked at how the neighborhood decorated its' houses, then we focused on the infamous haunted house of 91st Street.  For this report, we look at Jamaica Avenue, and the trick or treaters that wandered the streets that day.

When I was young -- many years ago -- I recall going into a few stores, usually the ones where we knew the owner.  But over the years, it seems like more and more kids are trick or treating on Jamaica Avenue -- and more and more businesses are participating.  Here's Charlie, owner of Spirare Cleaning and Tailoring Center, dressed as a pirate.  It's good to see the businesses getting into the spirit like this, and giving to the community.

Some of the costumes I didn't recognize, like that on on the left below.  It's some cartoon character, I suppose -- a bad guy, from the looks of him.  Raggedy Ann is on the right.

We had a great time -- for about 2 hours, we stood in front of the Woodhaven Residents' Block Association and handed out candies.  There's a cute little witch, below left.  And at the right are a couple of clonetroopers from Star Wars.  Maybe we can get them on our neighborhood security patrol :-)

Zombies and the Undead were populat this year and -- oh, here's Michael Jackson!

It was a great day for people watching on the avenue, and it wasn't just the kids that were all dressed up.  The ghoul face from the Scream movies seemed to be real popular this year.

Here's a biker of some sort.  I's almost like he's a cross between a dog and a biker, right?  And then you have a cross between an angel and a devil at left.

These girls were out having a great time -- and that's exactly what Halloween is all about.  You know, wouldn't it be great if Woodhaven had a Halloween parade, or something similar?  In a way, it is like a parade already, I guess.

More adults having fun.  The guy at right is dressed as a baked potato :-)

We went through about $40 worth of candy in 2 hours.  But it was worth every penny!

This was great!  A Turtle, a Bumble Bee and a French Maid!  Outstanding!

Some younger adults out, having fun -- there really is no right or wrong age for Halloween.  It's for everyone!

Another Scream.  And a Lion King.

These 3 kids were great -- watch the video (after the picture) to see something special.  These 3 kids jumped in front of the video camera and started singing in Spanish.  Something about Angels and Skulls.  Is this a traditional song in celebration of Dia de los Muertos?  Someone fill us in!

Here's the video of Jamaica Avenue -- it's not long and these cute kids start singing about 90 seconds into it:

The candy supplies were running low, but the kids kept coming!  It's gotta cost these stores a fortune -- many thanks to all who participated.

And finally, it was time to call it a day!  We know how you feel, kids!  See you next year!
