Last year, we were driving down Woodhaven Boulevard and were lucky enough to stumble upon this event -- you can read about last year's ceremony here.  This year, we looked forward to being there for the whole event at Emanuel United Church of Christ at 91st Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard -- and it did not disappoint.  There were some familiar faces that we met last year -- here's one friendly face, Zoe:

It was a little chilly -- and the wind was strong at times -- but that didn't deter folks from coming out with their little friends.  There was a brief prayer followed by a reading of All Things Bright and Beautiful.

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful; the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors, and made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountains,  the river running by,
the sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden; God made them every one.

God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty, who has made all things well.

This Tabby was a little under the weather and received a special blessing from Emanuel's Pastor Toni Walrond before heading off to the vet.

It was mostly pups at yesterday's ceremony -- though there were a few cats and a pair of turtles.  We were told that last year someone brought a rat - albeit a cute one!

One by one, the pets were brought to Pastor Toni for a blessing.

Here's another return visitor from last year, Rufus --

It was a lovely ceremony -- and a lot of fun to attend.  They've been doing this for over a decade.  Here is our video coverage of the event -- we've added a few wrinkles to our videos, you'll notice some new effects and even some captioning for when the surrounding noise makes it hard to hear what a person is saying --

Apart from the blessing, there was a lot of people talking to each other, admiring each other's pets -- and a lot of the pets mingling around and saying hello to each other.  We're animal lovers, so this was one of our favorite events of the year -- but, also, the folks at Emanuel are very nice and welcoming.  They are having their Annual Fall Fair on Saturday, November 13th - there will be lots of vendors, auctions, and you can have lunch or dinner while you're there - click here for details!

Here, a few of the pups get together for a strategy session :-)

These guys were so cute -- here's a little cute poodle named Joy.  Look at that face -- adorable!

Here are two turtles -- Jason and April -- they were purchased at the Woodhaven Street Fair, over a decade ago!

Here, the attendees got together for a group photograph -- it'll be in the Times Newsweekly next week --

Look forward to seeing them all again next year -- it's a wonderful ceremony -- hope to see some of you out there next year.  You don't need to bring your pet to enjoy!
