From the creative minds behind "The Sopranos" and "Goodfellas," HBO's Boardwalk Empire is set in Atlantic City, during the era of Prohibition.  And this week, they came out to Woodhaven to kill someone.  The setting was Strack Pond (which we visited here and here).  They set up in the bandshell parking lot and rolled their equipment down to the pond -- here's an aerial shot where you can see the bandshell, the parking lot, the carousel and Strack Pond.

It was a tightly controlled set.  The pond area is enclosed on Forest Park Drive by a gate and both entrances were guarded and there were signs up stating that the pond was closed.  But that didn't stop 2 of Woodhaven's most determined reporters from getting some shots.  Mrs. Project Woodhaven and Mr. Woodhaven entered through the woods on Woodhaven Boulevard to get a few pictures and some video of what was going on at the pond.  They couldn't get much closer than this --

All together it looked like 4 vehicles were driven down to the pond -- the men in white robes are actors -- we don't think they will be with the show very long -- while they were sneaking pictures and video, they heard gunshots.  Gunshots in Strack Pond are very loud -- they could be heard on Woodhaven Boulevard.

It looks like blood on the face of one of the guys in white robes.

And one of the guys looks like he's got a mask covering his face.

Closeup of the guy with blood and some guy in period clothing.

Mr. Woodhaven hung around to see them drive the cars out of the pond --

And here is his video -- you will hear the gunshots -- and you will see the old 1920-style cars driving on Forest Park Drive -- great video!

And Mr. Woodhaven got his picture taken with one of the stars, Michael Pitt:
