January 2nd, 2014 - and we're facing a snowfall of fairly significant accumulation.  Perhaps even becoming a blizzard.  It didn't look like much when it started, but after only a few moments it became apparent this was going to stick right from the start.  Luckily, we had our camera ready and we rode around before it got too bad and grabbed a few nice shots.  Here, at the corner of 90th and Jamaica a woman hurries home under an umbrella.

It was pretty wild from the start, windy and wet.

You could see people hurrying to get home after having stopped off for last minute provisions.

We took a quick run into the park before the winds got too strong. Between the wet cement and the moisture in the air, it made for some interesting pictures.

In the bandshell parking lot.  You are starting to see some good accumulation on the ground.

Forest Park at night any time - either dry or wet -- is our favorite place to take pictures.

The Department of Sanitation is ready to salt and sand the streets; there is a mountain of the stuff ready for disposal sitting in the parking lot.

Sometimes, taking a picture like this and converting it to black and white is the best way to convey how cold it is.

We stopped by the track at Victory Field and there was someone walking around the track. Here, he was stopping to look at his footprints - they didn't last long!

Myrtle Avenue looking towards Freedom Drive.

Jamaica Avenue and 96th Street looking West (towards Woodhaven Boulevard).  Snow is starting to accumulate on the avenue, a sure sign this storm is going to be bad.

There was a long, cold line waiting for the bus.

Crossing at 91st and Jamaica.

88th and Jamaica.

Back up to Park Lane South before we head home.  Walk? Don't Walk?  Make up your mind!

This is just under an hour into the storm and Park Lane South is already a mess.

Would love to see this tomorrow all covered in snow.

Baby Carriage Lane.

And our last, cold shot before we headed inside to hibernate -- the park house near the tennis courts.  Looks fairly ominous, doesn't it?

Wherever you are, stay warm and toasty inside - don't venture out unless you have to!  Be safe!
